Balloon artist at the sinclair centre in vancouver, bcToday I was booked to perform on behalf of the early Canada Day celebrations at the Sinclair Centre in downtown Vancouver.

Marc Smith at Amuse Consulting brought me in to the Sinclair Centre as The Cool Balloon Guy to create my incredible balloon twisting creations.

This was to mark my 3rd year performing at the Sinclair Centre and it’s always a pleasure and a thrill to perform there as the staff and patrons at this downtown shopping mall are so much fun.

Hope to see you all again at the Sinclair Centre next year!

Today was a great day for performing. I was invited by the Squiala First Nation Band in Chilliwack to perform as the Cool Balloon Guy and also with my company MagicShow2Go for the after dinner comedy magic show.

As of today, Squiala First Nation has 170 members. All members can be traced to Sam and Theresa Jimmie. Sam and Theresa were the founders of Squiala First Nation. Together, they had 7 sons and Squiala membership is made up of the descendents from the seven brothers. .

Jim Swevilis was born in 1870 to Charlie Laxelatsa of Squiala and Annie Artese from Tsawassen. Jim married Annie Charles of Whiterock and had 6 children: Annie, Alex, Louisa, Daniel, Martha and Simeon (Samuel). Simeon (Sam) married Theresa James from Skwah Reserve around 1928. They had seven sons; Alexander – 1929, Wilfred – 1932, Samuel – 1932, Charles – 1933, Gordon – 1935, Lawrence – 1938 and Leonard – 1940.

The home of the Squiala First Nation Band can be seen in the picture shown here. The Community Hall building is majestic to say the least and one of the most amazing buildings I have ever had the pleasure of performing in.

A BIG thank you to Marlene Marasco and all of the staff at the Squiala First Nation Band for making me welcome and for feeding me incredible food. I hope to see you all again very soon!

Saturday the 23rd of June – 2 shows today

entertainment for the yaletown house fundraising foundationToday was a fairly busy day.

I started with a children’s birthday party magic show at Trout Lake Community Centre in Vancouver. This was actually my second time performing at this wonderful facility in the past month. The community centre is brand new and quite amazing. It’s a great venue to host your next birthday party or special event.

Next up (and to finish the day) was 2 hours of strolling magic for the Yaletown House Foundation. This was a great fundraising event held at a beautiful private residence in West Vancouver overlooking the ocean. I had a great time strolling around performing incredible feats of close up magic for all of the guests. The party was a masquerade theme so everyone was wearing incredible costumes and masks.

The Yaletown House Foundation is a registered charity that raises funds for the seniors who live at Yaletown House. The Foundation’s mission is make the lives of it’s seniors citizens better by providing additional funds for programs, equipment and building renovations. Through a fundraising initiative and thanks to generous donors, they are supporting the residents’ current needs and providing opportunities for growth and improved quality of life.

I would like to say a big thank you to Lynn Parkin, Jan Volker and the entire staff and volunteers from both Yaletown House and on the evening itself. I had a great time and I look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Friday the 22nd of June – Performing at Coast 49

Filed under: General — admin @ 8:16 am

performing magic at coast 49 near the peace arch borderFriday the 22nd of June was a rainy day in Vancouver (nothing new there) but it was a fun day for magic.

I had been invited to perform at a private residence at a brand new development out in South Surrey/ Whiterock called Coast 49.

Coast 49 is a celebration of maritime living.

When they began the design process for Coast 49, the designers adopted the essential elements of New England home design… simple saltbox proportions, shiplap or shingle siding, sun drenched flower boxes, wooden shutters and authentic weather vanes and cupolas.

The inside of each home is designed to highlight our maritime environment by maximizing openness, light penetration and airflow. From the marine inspired color schemes to the nautical light fixtures, no detail has been left unattended.

For a fortunate few, living close to the ocean is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to a simpler lifestyle and fresh sea breezes. We hope you will share our enthusiasm for this lifestyle, the minute you arrive here.

But enough advertising for coast 49! The show was lots of fun and everyone had a great time.

Thursday the 21st of June – Performing for the annual North Shore Senior’s Picnic

performing at the north shore seniors picnicToday I got to perform for the annual North Shore Senior’s Picnic. This was my second time being invited to perform at this event and it was tons of fun.

The event used to be held at a park in North Vancouver but this year it was held in West Vancouver near the new community centre and leisure facility on Marine Drive. The event was remarkable and I had a very big audience which is always nice.

A BIG thank you to Holly Gagnier and all of the staff at the Silver Harbour Senior’s Activity Centre for inviting me back to perform this year. I hope to see you all again next year!

Tuesday the 19th of June performing at Fun4Kidz

Filed under: General — admin @ 7:53 am

MagicShow2Go performed a magic show at Fun4Kidz in West Vancouver, British ColumbiaOn Tuesday the 19th of June I was hired to perform at the Fun4Kidz zone in Park Royal, West Vancouver.

This is a great facility for children  and they offer a wide variety of challenging activities for kids of all ages that expands their learning process with physical activity. Fun4kidz Play Centre takes kids of all ages on an exciting adventure with challenging obstacle courses and we even have a toddler area for the little ones that are 3 years old and younger.

They also have locations in Richmond and Coquitlam.

Thanks to all of the staff at Fun4Kidz for making it fun for me too. May they should change there name to Fun4Magicians…hmmmm, that sounds catchy to me!

Sunday the 10th of June. Performing at Karen Magnussen Rec Center

Filed under: General — admin @ 10:38 am

Birthday party entertainment at Karen Magnussen Rec CentreJust the one show today which is quite a rare thing for me, especially on a Sunday. It was a welcome change though as I got to have a little bit of a lay in bed and got to spend the rest of the afternoon in the sun.

My show at Karen Magnussen Rec Center located in Lynn Valley/ North Vancouver was for a 6 year old birthday party. The kids were great, some certainly kept me on my toes but after years in the business it was nothing I could not handle. By the way, that’s an important thing to bare in mind when booking an entertainer for your child’s birthday party. I have performed for all manner of shows from corporate to store openings but when it comes to children you MUST know what you are doing as an entertainer! There is a huge difference between an amateur and a professional!!

A professional is going to cost a little more but trust me when I say  IT IS WORTH PAYING THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA!!! I capitalize this because I cannot stress enough how important it is to get a great entertainer. The difference can mean you being able to sit back and relax and enjoy your self too, a good entertainer that knows what they are doing is going to make an hour go by in no time at all! As for the children, they will be glued to the show and more importantly, not causing you trouble ;)

Give us a call at 604 788 9046 today and let us make your party that extra bit more special! Birthdays only come once a year so you know you deserve it!
