Even though I mainly perform here in beautiful British Columbia I also travel performing. This year I have been in 11 countries!!! I am begining to think I should get shares in Vancouver airport and a bed put in the departure lounge I am there so much.
From the 30th of September to the 6th of October I was visiting the UK again, I think this was my 3rd or 4th trip to the UK this year alone although I am starting to lose count…lol.
I love traveling to the UK for work as I also get to visit my friends and family at the same time and I got to surprise my brother on this trip for his 30th birthday. He was very very surprised which was awesome!
If you have never been to England may I suggest making a visit very soon. It truly is a remarkable place with so much history and great sights!
I love West Vancouver!!! Ever since I moved to BC almost 14 years ago now I have always loved going over to the North Shore whenever possible!!! The scenery is beautiful and the beaches are breathtaking. Not to mention, I like to visit my future home in the British Properties every once in a while….wink, wink.
Today I performed at a Children’s Birthday Party for a great bunch of rambunctious, fun filled, screaming children
Always lots of fun! Many people ask me why I still do kids parties around BC as I am so busy performing at corporate parties and company events. The simple answer, I love performing at children’s parties, their energy is always so much fun! Plus, I used to go to school with kids years ago!!!
Give my office a call today at (604) 800 1442 and ask if I am available for your next special event! You will be glad you did as I am AWESOME. I am also modest and a little bias…lol!
Normally I post here on the blog after I have done an event to tell you all about it and how great it was. I am doing something a little different on this post.
This weekend I have 3 events booked. 2 shows at private residences in Vancouver, BC and 4 hours of balloon twisting as the Cool Balloon Guy at the Dunbar Village Harvest Festival. I will be performing as a balloon twister from 11am to 3pm somewhere along the Dunbar Village walk so make sure you come and find me. I will be creating those crazy balloon works of art that I am know for and just giving them away! The kind folks at the DVBA are paying me to be there so you don’t have to.
I am thrilled to continue a great working relationship with the DVBA and I am proud to say I have been performing at their events for many years and hopefully many years to come.
So, rain or shine come out and have a great time. There is going to be lots to do for the whole family and tons of fun for the kids.
See you there!
Sunday the 18th of September saw me performing in Surrey BC at another private residence.
This event was very small for a 40th birthday celebration. What the event lacked in numbers was made up for in sheer fun!!! I had so much fun with this family and they thoroughly enjoyed the show.
One thing I thought was really cool. When I was invited into the home the living room was full of old style video arcade machines from the 80,s and 90,s, just like the ones you can get from my friends at Flippers.com in Vancouver. You know the type I am talking about, Donkey Kong, Pinball Machines, stuff like that. The guy who’s 40th it was collected these machines for the sheer fun of it. I can only imagine what it must be like growing up in that house as a kid.
The family made me feel very welcome and even mentioned booking me for a special tree lighting Christmas Event in December for a shopping mall.
As for the city of Surrey, BC. I like doing events here and perform in Surrey quite a lot. It’s a HUGE place with lots to see and do. Sure I will be back there very soon.
My show on this beautiful Saturday was at a private residence in the beautiful town of White Rock. The show was for a small group of about 25 people and it was so much fun.
Even though I perform at many large events and corporate events across BC I started my career by performing at smaller events and home parties in peoples homes and I continue to take this kind of show as I love the interaction with my audience at this kind of event. No event is too small or too large for us here at MagicShow2Go.
As for White Rock, well, it has to be one of my favorite places in British Columbia.
I think I may have mentioned this in a previous blog post but here goes again. The reason I love White Rock so much is because it reminds me of the kinds of seaside towns I would visit with my family as a child growing up in England. You know the type, where you can walk along the pier with an ice cream in hand on a hot sunny day. Or sit on a bench by the sea eating a bag of Fish and Chips surrounded by sea gulls waiting for a chance to snag a little piece of that lovely battered cod.
White Rock is the place I go when I get a little home sick (after 14 years) and need my sea side fix. They even have a store selling British candy called the Celtic Treasure Chest in White Rock so it must be authentic.
Today I was performing at Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver for the annual COHO Festival.
The COHO Society puts this event on every year and a great event it is.
I was hired by my long time client Park Royal to entertain in their tent at the COHO Festival. I have been performing at Park Royal events for many many years so it was a real pleasure to be asked to represent them at the COHO Festival this year.
I was hired as the Cool Balloon Guy, my balloon twisting alter ego when I am not performing as a magician in the lower mainland. I only launched the Cool Balloon Guy about a year ago and since then I am happy to say I have been really busy as a balloon artist all over British Columbia.
It was a great day!
This evening saw me performing my comedy magic show for a company BBQ. The firm was McCullough O’Connor Irwin LLP.
The audience was a mixed bunch including lawyers from the firm and their families which meant their were some children at the show too. I love this kind of event with an audience of all ages as these are the kinds of shows that got me started. Performing for a mixed family audience is something that I do best!
The event was laid back and took place out doors. The beer flowed the BBQ grilled and the sun shone. I cannot think of a better recipe for a great summer company BBQ! Of course I did not get to partake in any of that as I was there to entertain and entertain I did.
This was my first time performing for this company but they loved the show so I know it won’t be the last.
Thanks to Dave Gunasekera and everyone at McCullough, O’Conner and Irwin for a great time. It was lot’s of fun!
Hi all and welcome to MagicShow2Go.
If you are a regular visitor to our website and are familiar with the blog here at MagicShow2Go you will know it has been a few days since I have posted. That’s because I have had a much needed few days off without performing Magic Shows. I must say it has been nice to have a couple of days with my feet up, only a couple mind you! No rest for the wicked.
Last night (Thursday the 8th of September) saw me performing at the Coast Tsawwassen Hotel in Tsawwassen for Century Group.
It was a small affair with about 130 guests in attendance. I performed my 45 minute stand up comedy magic show before they had dinner.
It was a lot of fun to say the least! I tried out a new running order for my show and it went really well so I think I will be keeping it for a while.
Thanks to all the staff at the Coast Hotel for making me feel so welcome and for giving me a beautiful green room to relax and change in. Finally thanks to Shannon Taylor and all of the staff at Century Group for a great night.
Another great show done!
September 3rd and 4th saw me in Whistler performing for the 1st ever Whistler Jazz Festival. I performed as the Cool Balloon Guy creating incredible balloon creations on the Saturday and Sunday.
I performed for the city of Whistler more times than I care to mention and was invited to perform at the Whistler Jazz Festival after my 4 or 5 years performing at the Whistler Children’s Festival.
The event was a lot of fun and their were some great acts booked for the event.
I have to say, I have never been a huge jazz fan but the music was great and easy to listen to. It was a real pleasure watching some of the masters of jazz do their thing with the beautiful backdrop of Blackcomb mountain.
Thanks to Traci Despatis and all of her staff at this wonderful festival.
