I have lost count of how many times I have blogged about this wonderful facility. I love performing at Kerrisadle Community Centre and the staff at this facility are amazing. If you are looking for a great venue to host your birthday party and you live in the area then you should give them a call at 604 257 8100 and tell them Matthew at MagicShow2Go sent you.
Todays show was a little shorter. I was requested to do a 30 minute show and 15 minutes of balloon twisting as opposed to the regular 45 minute show.
I do have to admit that the feel of a 30 minute show felt pretty good and seemed to move along at a quicker pace that certainly worked for the children at the party.
A BIG hello to the Little Owls Preschool at Kerrisdale who I perform for every year, they are such a cute little group
Hillcrest Community Centre (formely Riley Park Community Centre) is an amazing venue to perform in. It houses an amazing swimming/aquatic centre and also an amazing library (have I said amazing enough?)
It’s housed right next door to Nat Bailey Stadium. Nat Bailey Stadium was originally built in 1951 as Capilano Stadium, it was renamed Nat Bailey Stadium in 1978 to honour the work of Vancouver restaurateur Nat Bailey and his tireless effort to promote baseball in Vancouver. There’s a little more pub quiz knowledge for you
My show was for a 5th birthday party and for all of the birthday boys friends and family. We all had a blast in this amazing venue.
On the evening of May 2nd I was booked to perform an hour and a half of strolling close up magic for the Emplyee 20 year recognition evening of Maple Ridge Secondary teachers.
It was great fun entertaining all of the teachers at this event and I would like to say a BIG thanks to Lena Frend and all of the teaching staff on hand for making me feel so welcome, it was a great evening.
I would also like to extend a BIG thank you to the grade 11 and grade 12 students who prepared the food for the evening. The students from the culinary class there did an incredible job. I have performed at many events all over the world and in many hotels and the food that these students made ranked up there with some of the best I have had!
Thanks Maple Ridge Secondary for a great time and I hope to see you all again soon.
Today I found myself performing a magic show and balloon twisting in the Planet Lazer complex in Richmond, BC. I have performed in some strange places I tell you.
Performing in a lazer game facility really took me back. I got my start as a professional magician many many years ago when I was just 16 years old. I used to perform in a bowling alley in Sheffield England (my home town). The bowling alley was called Superbowl and as well as bowling facilities they also had a Lazer Tag zone. I got free bowling and Lazer Tag so lets just say I got pretty good.
I think I may last about 30 seconds if I tried to play now.
Visit Planet Lazer at www.planetlazer.com and tell them Matthew sent you. It’s great fun for all ages!
On the 17th of April I left Vancouver and jetted off to St. Vincent in Italy. It’s a small town not too far from the Matterhorn and Turin of Olympics fame.
I was there to attend and work at the Masters of Magic Convention which is one of the best Magic Conventions in the world. I have been to a lot of countries over the years as a performer but had never visited Italy until now.
I had a great time and it was a real pleasure to see friends old and new.
I think the biggest thrill for me was meeting the young man shown in the photo. His name Federico Soldati. Who is he you may be asking yourself? Well Federico is the Swiss Rubik’s Cube Champion. He is also a magician and a heck of a nice guy.
I thoroughly mixed a Rubik’s Cube and then he solved it behind his back. It was utterly mind blowing to say the least! As if that were not enough he then signed and dated the cube and gave it to me as a gift. It now has pride of place here in my home.
Today marked the day that I finally picked up my brand new promo demo reel footage from my friends at Three Sixty Photography in Richmond.
The video is aimed towards adults and the corporate market rather than my kids and family market. It’s a lot of fun so please feel free to grab a coffee, pastry and then sit back and enjoy the fun.

Enjoy!
This picture shown here is just a tent but what a tent!
It was the holding area for customers wishing to purchase new homes in the Silver building going up in Burnaby and being built by Intracorp. This was to be my venue for the days of April 14th and 15th.
I first performed for Intracorp at their Silver launch to realtor’s on the 29th of March. I guess I did such a great job that they wanted me back. So they brought me in to perform for the prospective customers that were there to buy new homes.
I had a great time again and have loved working with a great company like Intracorp.

- Kids entertaining at Killarney Community Centre
Today I performed a Children’s show at Killarney Community Centre in Vancouver.
The customer had me perform for them a few years ago so it was a real pleasure to be invited back again for the second child’s birthday.
For those of you that have never visited Killarney Community Centre it really is a great facility with lots to offer.
Both shows today were for children’s birthday parties.
The first show was in Langley so I got take one of my many rides over the Golden Ears Bridge. I love it when you turn off the bridge at the Langley side and take the off ramp. It goes up into the air and you feel like you are flying (or may be that’s just me..lol) I am a bit of an odd duck!
The show was for an 8 year old boy and his friends. This is a great age group to do magic shows for as they are really on their toes and pretty sharp at that age so as a performer you have to be on your toes too, it’s always a challenge that I enjoy.
After the show in Langley it was back to Port Moody where I had a birthday party show for a little 6 year old girl and all of her friends. This was a great party too. Lots of family, aunts, uncles and friends there too. I love it when there are a lot of adults in the room too as the adults love my humor too. My show is like a good Disney Movie, it’s entertaining for everyone and there are a whole bunch of jokes for the adults that go over the kids heads. Lets face it, you adults are the ones paying the bills…right
On Wednesday the 4th of April I was invited to perform for the annual NSVS Mad Hatter tea party.
I had a great time with Trudy Hubbard and all of her staff at the North Shore Volunteers for Seniors location in West Vancouver.
The hats and costumes on show that day were amazing and to be honest I felt quite under dressed.
North Shore Volunteers for Seniors (NSVS) is a non-profit society. Established in 1961, it promotes the independence and well-being of elderly and isolated seniors.
